About Our Certifications

We distinguish ourselves from our competition by our continual drive for team and individual improvement. In our quest to both provide practical solutions for our clients and to enhance our skill sets, Artemis has chosen the ISACA® family of designations.

At a minimum, all team members hold the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA®) designation. The CISA® credential requires at least five years of professional information systems auditing, control, or security work experience. Additionally, Artemis Team Leaders carry additional designations, outlined below:

TIM VILLANO

Tim is a lifetime technology expert dating back to the early 1980’s utilizing DEC systems and VAX/VMS operating systems. He worked on first-generation computer-aided design programs, software development, installations and security for the machining industry. In the investment business, he installed and configured first-generation quotron (ILX) and Instinet machines for hedge fund operators.

He has managed IT security for several business, including his own and non-profit organizations. Tim brings this experience to conducting security risk assessment engagements based upon well-defined and accepted COBIT5® standards and works on custom and NIST Cybersecurity Framework implementations at private and public critical infrastructure providers. He prides himself on a common sense and practical approach to identifying and mitigating risk.

Tim has been president of his own research and consulting firm, Lakeville Research LLC, advising hedge funds, private equity firms, broker dealers, and high net-worth individuals. His analysis of equity, commodity and currency markets has been published in several industry periodicals, including Barron’s. He has conducted risk analysis, structured accounts, and served as portfolio manager for hedge funds and private clients.

Tim also has experience in emergency management as a Firefighter/EMT and a past Chief Officer and Training Officer of the Lakeville Hose Company in Lakeville, CT. He is a certified fire service and hazardous materials instructor and is trained to the NIMS incident command system (ICS-300) level.

His industry and personal experience serves as a bridge to it security and regulatory issues for critical infrastructure firms. He has a B.A. in English from Yale University and a M.F.A. from Columbia University. He is Series 7 and 66 licensed (inactive).

LYMAN TERNI

Lyman has conducted granular IT work for internet and hosting companies including network administration, management, and installations. He has experience with several infrastructure setups and operating systems on both the client and server-side. He has managed security, including patching, antivirus/malware, mitigating incidents, and troubleshooting at several businesses.

He has served as Trader and Portfolio Manager for Lakeville Research LLC, managing long/short portfolios of equities and options. He has also participated in the creation of custom research models and documentation based upon several technical and fundamental analysis systems and is a licensed Bloomberg Systems Operator.

Lyman has worked in both an operational and consulting capacity to multiple startups and small companies. He is a former Registered Tax Return Preparer (RTRP) and has extensive experience in aspects of business operations including taxation, human resources, budgeting, and development.

Lyman brings this diverse operational background and experience to advising a range of AGS clients, including private and public companies on all aspects of risk and technology concerns. He conducts on-site security assessments, technology audits, and assists clients in implementation of current best practices, including the NIST Framework for Improvement of Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity and COBIT5. He is uniquely qualified to advise on development and implementation of technology solutions that meet the custom governance, risk, and compliance needs of clients.

Lyman was Series 7 licensed and holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Union College and an MBA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Lyman is a published author of several compliance and technology articles and is a speaker for industry conferences and events.
